*REVIEW* Rimmel London Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer + Highlighter

Hi!

 

Today I have a review for one of my favourite concealers ever...the Rimmel London Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer + Highlighter...that name is a bit of a mouthful!

 

This is one of those concealers that is one that I keep coming back to again and again...I recently purchased this for the 3rd time.

 

 

I seem to remember the price of this previously being £5 but it appears to have gone up to £5.99...maybe it was always that price and I'm just not observant, either way it's not an expensive product at all!

 

My shade is in 010 Ivory.

 

This claims to "banish signs of fatigue and illuminate the eye area. With an oxygen complex. Lets skin breathe."

 

Is it just me or does that sound like it's been badly translated from another language? ;)

 

Aside from their slightly questionable use of sentence structure and grammar (sorry...my inner English critic is taking over) I have to say I feel that I believe that this product lives up to it's claims.

 

 

This comes with a little brush at the end and you have to squeeze it to get the right amount of product out. Sometimes you get air bubbles which cause it to spurt out suddenly but for the majority of the time it works out fine.

 

 

I think it needs to be said that this isn't going to be your incredible high coverage concealer. As a general rule of thumb liquid concealers do not tend to have amazing coverage.

The coverage for this is decent though and sometimes I do just use this under my eyes (I have really bad under eye veins).

It doesn't cover up the veins properly like a high coverage concealer would, but provided the circles aren't too dark (assuning I've actually managed to sleep the night before) it generally does a good enough job and I feel fine leaving the house with just this on.

 

The texture is fairly thin which makes it very light and comfortable to wear in the sense that it doesn't feel like I have a massive layer of cakey concealer under my eyes.

I do believe this does let my skin "breathe" and I use it on days when I want to wear lighter makeup.

 

 

The other use I have for this is for touch ups.

If my under eye circles are bad or I just want more coverage I'll use a high coverage concealer and then throughout the day I use this as the perfect touch up product. It's light, it's illuminating and just creates a really crisp "clean" under eye area and brightens it up. I love using this also to clean up any fall out that I've had.

 

 

So generally all in all I do love this product and I've mentioned it a few times already in various other posts and I can't believe I haven't reviewed it properly until now!

It's light for a minimal makeup day and it works great as a touch up highlighter too.

*REVIEW* E.L.F All Over Colour Stick in Spotlight

I have another E.L.F review today for you...this was another one of the products that I bought recently in my haul from E.L.F (which you can read HERE) :)

 

 

 

The All Over Colour Sticks (or Color sticks if you're across the pond!) cost £1.50 from www.eyeslipsface.com.

I also have another one of these in Lilac Petal which I've already reviewed HERE.

 

I decided to get this one because it looked like it would be a really good highlight colour. I have very fair skin and don't tend to use a lot of blush or bronzer but I love using highlighters to add a bit of contouring to my face.

 

 

A lot of E.L.F products have this scent which I absolutely LOVE...it's described as being "sugar orange" on the site and every time I smell it I fall in love all over again.

 

It says:

"Naturally illuminates for a healthy glow. Instantly soothes and conditions skin. Multipurpose formula."

 

Although it says you can, I don't ever tend to use these for anything other than my cheeks as the colours often look too frosty to go on my lips and I'd be worried about creasing on my eyes.

The left side is a swatch blended in and the right side is the product swatched heavily.

 

As I hoped, this makes a beautiful highlight.

I use this on top of my cheekbones after foundation and then blend it in with my fingers.

For me, this is the perfect shade for my skin. It's not quite white, more of a pale cream colour despite the rather misleading lighting in the photo!

There is also a slight shimmer in this which looks really beautiful when it hits the light.

 

The only thing I'm not so keen on about this product is that the formula is a little...wet? It's pretty creamy (which is why I don't tend to use these on my eyes unless setting with another shadow) and while I don't mind this much, it means that it doesn't have the best staying power in the world.

Nevertheless it is still visible after quite a few hours of wear and it still looks pretty throughout the day.

 

Generally, I really like this product and I'm so glad I got it! It adds a lovely sheen to the tops of the cheekbones and you can build it up depending on how visible you want your highlighter to be.

Benefit Girl Meets Pearl Vs High Beam

*This is a scheduled post as over the next few weeks I will be busy with exams*

I think personally that every makeup brand is famous for a few types of products and I feel like one of the types of products Benefit is famous for are their highlighters...
I have two to show you today which are Girl Meets Peal and also the famous High Beam.

 

 

I don't have either of these in full sizes as I got them in the Benefit "Finding Mr Bright" kit :)

A full sized Girl Meets Pearl costs £24.50 for 12ml and the High Beam in full size costs £19.50 for 15ml.

Girl Meets Pearl:
"This soft, golden-pink liquid pearl luminizer features light-reflecting pigments to give your complexion an exquisite, dewy glow. It includes raspberry & chamomile, known for their soothing properties…and sweet almond seed extract  known to help improve skin firmness & smoothness. Pat it on over blush to highlight cheekbones with a pop of pearly pleasure!"


High Beam:
"Our satiny pink liquid highlighter accents cheek & brow bones for a dewy, radiant glow. Use as a spot highlighter over makeup or wear under complexion products for subtle luminescence. It's the "supermodel in a bottle!""

Here are some swatches:

 

 

 

As you can see they are different colours...High Beam is more of a very pale, pearly pink/champagne colour with shimmer...it's pretty pigmented and shows up well on the skin.

Girl Meets Pearl however is definitely more of a golden colour...I think it's more of a very sheer base with some golden shimmer. It's not as noticeable on the skin and isn't anywhere near as light as High Beam.

For both of these I just dot it along the top of my cheekbones and blend it in with my fingers.

 

Girl Meets Pearl:

 

Pros:

1) Would be a lot better for darker skin tones as it has golden shimmer

2) Is more subtle so you could blend this more over your face to give a really luminous glow.

3) Has a nice smell to it...(this may be a disadvantage to some people who don't like scented cosmetics...I don't generally but the smell isn't strong and I quite like it. Also highlighter isn't something I need lots of so it's not like I can still smell it once it's on  my face)

 

Cons:

1) It's more expensive than High Beam.

2) There is less in the bottle than High Beam

3) It isn't as noticeable as a highlight

4) For lighter skin tones it doesn't show up as well.

 

High Beam:

 

Pros:

1) Less expensive than Girl Meets Pearl

2) You get more in the bottle

3) There is a brush in the bottle top so it's slightly easier to apply.

4) Is a lot more noticeable as a highlight

5) Better for fair skin (like me)

 

Cons:

1) If you have dark skin it might look a little bit frosty...

2) Even though it is cheaper than Girl Meets Peal it is still expensive for a highlighter.

 

Overall I generally prefer High Beam...it stands out better on my skin and is more noticeable, but that's not to say that I don't use Girl Meets Peal too!

They are both pretty good highlighters so it would have to depend on how dark your skin is and if you are willing to spend the extra money to get slightly less product.

I've used High Beam for some time now and I now have 3 mini versions from various Benefit kits :)

*REVIEW* ELF Shimmering Facial Whip in Spotlight

This morning I have another review for you...this time it's the ELF shimmering Facial Whip and the shade that I have is spotlight.

 PRICE AND AVAILABILIY:
These are available from the ELF website for the UK (www.eyeslipsface.co.uk) (or www.eyeslipsface.com if you're not in the UK). I have also stumbled across certain ELF products n TK maxx occasionally but they've usually been the palettes. These cost £1.50, which is a great bargain! They come in a load of different shades that you could use as a blush, but this shade is a highlighter shade.

TEXTURE:
I won't lie. The texture of these is odd. Mine is extremely running and unless you shake it well you just end up with a  load of water that doesn't have any shimmer in it at all but then occasional big gloops of glitter...it's a little bit strange and because of that I've found the best way to apply these is to shake it, squirt some onto my hand blend it in with my finger and then use a brush to apply it on my face, however you have to be very gentle because the product is so watery before now it has actually done something similar to washing my foundation off underneath. Which isn't great.

Here it is when you first squirt it on in one big watery blob..

As you start to blend it out you can see just how watery it is, but because I've shaken it there is some shimmer at least...

And then when it's blended out well enough it sits ok on the skin (as long as you haven't "washed" away your foundation with this...)

 

PIGMENTATION:
The swatch above doesn't show it too well (hurray for bad lighting...) but this product is actually very shimmery. It is definitely a white shimmer, so if you have a darker skin tone it may look a little frosty and it doesn't have the pink undertone that Benefit's High Beam has, but it has a lot more shimmer that that. As long as you blend it, the shimmer isn't too in your face and it actually works pretty well.

Overall:
Overall this is pretty good for the price...I just wish it wasn't so watery as its quite hard to work with without smearing your foundation underneath! It is a very cheap product which is one of the benefits of it, and the colour works well for me because I'm pale, however I can't help but feel that there may be better yet still cheap highlighters out there. In saying that, I do have a certain fondness for this product and I do wear it quite often.... eg on days when I want a highlight but not to use up one of my mini Benefit High Beam's which are expensive!

Would I buy again? Probably not...however I will be happy to use up this product. If I buy again I'd maybe buy a blush colour but I'm not sure yet.
