*REVIEW* HR Loose Eyeshadow (15 Plum Rock)

Hi!

I have  a quick review today of the HR (Helena Rubenstein) Loose Eyeshadow in 15 Plum Rock.

I spotted this at TK Maxx ages ago and when I saw it I just fell in love!

From looking online it seems that this retails for about £5-8....it is quite a small little pot of loose shadow but you don't need a lot of this so even though it is a bit pricey it's still worth it in my opinion...
It is a little tricky to get HR Cosmetics here in the UK...if you live in Europe you might have better luck!

Wait until you see the colour....

*Sigh*
So pretty.
This is the most gorgeous plum/burgundy/wine colour with plenty of shimmer and when it hits the light just right it is so beautiful!

I like to wear this on the eyes with a dark plum coloured liquid liner for a really rich and sultry eye look.

I find that as with all loose shadows the best way to wear this is to tap a little bit into the lid and then use a flat stiff brush to pat this on the lid over a sticky base, I'd recommend something like the NYX eye shadow bases or the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils.
These types of pigments or loose shadows don't tend to work so well with just a primer like the Urban Decay one because they really need something to stick to.

I don't really have anything bad to say about this...it looks great on the eye, last ages on the lid...there aren't any bad points!

Have you tried any loose shadows from HR cosmetics?
Thanks so much for reading!

*REVIEW* Barry M Dazzle Dusts (+ Swatches!)

Hi!

I have a review that really should've been up ages ago considering how much I use these pigments. I spent some time today photographing and swatching these amazing Dazzle Dusts from Barry M to show you!

These pretty little jars cost £4.59 each

I'll quickly show you each pigment with it's name and then I'll do swatches!

Each pigment has a number and a name...I've tried to find the names for each of them but they don't print them on the jar so I couldn't find the names for every single one.

96 Gold

85 Neon Pink

84 Cherry Red

94 Teal

22 Bright Blue

8 Silver Iridescent

35 ?

(Not sure of the name of this one. Unfortunately I think this is discontinued but you may be still able to get it if you hunt for it)

90 Pearly Mauve

90 Silvery Black

Now for some swatches!
These are swatched over the NYX Eyeshadow Base in White as I feel that these need a sticky base to cling to so that you can really see them at their best.
These are swatched in the same order as above.

Top to bottom: 96, 85, 84, 94, 22

Top to bottom: 8, 35, 90, 91

For some reason because of the way the light is hitting it, the shade 90 is showing up a lot more blue than it does normally. It does have those blue tones, but generally shows up more purple.

These are said to be pretty multifunctional and on the website it says that you can use these for eyes, lips or cheeks.
You can mix these with a clear lip gloss or a clear nail polish to get more use out of them too!

I have to say I only ever use these for my eyes...but having said that for my art project I think I'll end up doing some crazy makeup looks for that so who knows? These would be really useful for doing some really bright, over the top looks and maybe I should try an electric blue lip now and then! :)

I love the high colour intensity of all these pigments and there isn't on that I feel doesn't quite match up pigmentation-wise.

I think my favourites are the gold (96), bright red (84) and the teal (94) as I feel that these are the ones I get most use out of, but I honestly use all of these! I also love the little jars because in a draw they don't take up much space and you can stack them if you run out of space.

I definitely think I'll be expanding my Dazzle Dust collection...for such a low price and such great pigmentation you can go wrong!

Have you tried the Dazzle Dusts yet?
Thanks for reading!

Makeup Look: Golden Goddess (E.L.F)

Hi!

Recently I reviewed the E.L.F Eye shadow Pigments in Golden Goddess and Baked Brown and the other day I also created a look using both of them, so I thought I'd post it so you can see them both in action!

If you want to read a review of the eye shadow pigments from E.L.F that I recently reviewed, you can see it HERE.  I have swatches there of the colours which might be easier to see than actually the eye!

I named this look after my favourite of the two pigments..."Golden Goddess" as I just LOVE that colour! I'm such a sucker for gold shadows/pigments.

Again apologies for the photo qualities...here in the UK with no sunlight it is pretty difficult to get the colours to show up properly!

Here are the products I used:

NYX Eye Shadow Base in White
E.L.F Eye Shadow Pigment in Baked Brown
E.L.F Eye Shadow Pigment in Golden Goddess
MUA Eye Shadow Pearl in Shade 2
Borjois Khol & Contour Eye Liner in Ultra Black
Soap & Glory Supercat Liquid Black Eyeliner Pen
Benefit High Beam
L'Oreal Lash Architect 4D Mascara

I first used the NYX shadow base then patted Baked Brown on the outer corner of the eye and Golden Goddess on the inner half of the lid. I patted them to blend them together.
I used the MUA Shadow near the tear duct to brighten the darkness that I have there.
I used the Benefit High Beam as a highlight below my brow bone (I really like using this as a highlight there, it just catches the light beautifully) and then lined my waterlines with the Bourjois eye liner.
I lined my top lashline with the Soap & Glory pen liner. This is the first (and to date only) make up product that I've tried from Soap & Glory but I love this. So easy to use and I've used it hundreds of times and it hasn't been used up yet. It's one of my most used eye liners ever.
I then added the L'Oreal mascara to my lashes; I've had this a while and I'm trying to use it up at the moment.

So that's it! Quite a quick and relatively easy look today, not involving any tricky blending or bright shadows. It's a variation of my typical bronze/gold smoky eye look that I use as my "signature" look all of the time.
I adore the colour of the E.L.F pigment in Golden Goddess!
Be sure to check out my review of them if you're interested!

I hope you enjoyed this look! :)
Thank you for reading!

*REVIEW* E.L.F Pigment Eye Shadows (Baked Brown & Golden Goddess)

Hi!

I have yet another one of my E.L.F reviews today - one of the products I bought a while ago in an E.L.F haul...I wanted to wait until I'd used these pigments a couple of times so that I knew what I thought of them!

These are from the Studio line and each cost £3.75. There are also some other colours there that I think I'd like to try out too but I chose these colours first as they are the kind of shades that I used most.

These come in little plastic jars that are the same as the packaging for their Cream Eyeliners and these come with a tiny flat brush each. I guess you could use it if you had to but personally for me it is too small and it would take a while to get the colour on. I guess they would be useful for really tiny detailing.

Here are the pigments side by side...Baked Brown is on the left and Golden Goddess is on the right.

I like the packaging these come in, the lids are really useful for mixing the colour and getting it onto your brush. You could also use it for adding a mixing medium and making these pigments into a liquid or something like a gel liner.

Here are some swatches:

The top swatch is Golden Goddess and the bottom is Baked Brown and they are both swatched over the NYX base in white.

Golden Goddess is shimmery golden amazingness. It's quite a coppery-toned gold as opposed to a yellowy gold and it reminds me of an "antique" gold colour because it has that copper/bronze tone to it. I'm rubbish at describing colours! I actually have a NYX shadow called "Antique Gold" which this reminds me of a lot. I really love this colour and I think it is the perfect gold colour to make the blue in my eyes pop..

Baked Brown would be your normal matte dark brown colour if it was not for the gold sparkles in it. Its actually very pretty but on the eye the gold sparkles do not show through so well which is a shame as it looks really pretty swatched. I don't think I have a deep brown that has gold flecks in it like this so it is a nice addition to my collection.

I've found the best way to apply these (or to apply all pigments I suppose) is to add a really sticky base - this will minimize fallout and ensure that the pigment has something to hold onto and stick to.
I like using the NYX bases for this, or you could use the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils as a base as they both work well with pigments.
Generally I'm really happy with these and I will definitely look for more on their website soon. The colours are nicely pigmented and last pretty well all day.

I do prefer Golden Goddess because not only do I prefer the colour, but I find that it lasts slightly longer on the lid too. They are both really pretty though.
The only slight thing I have noticed with these is that they are pretty hard to get out. I have to take the lid off and tap the pot on the lid to try and get some out, and even then you get small bits at a time. However I suppose this is better than if it all came out too fast and you had a big pigment-y mess!

But for the price these are pretty great and I'll definitely get a lot of use out of them - particularly Golden Goddess!

EDIT:
I've  now done a makeup look using these pigments, which you can view HERE if you're interested! :)

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed my review...have you tried these E.L.F pigments?
