NOTD: Freak Out (11/01/2014)

Hi!

I have a new NOTD to show you today. I recently got a glitter polish for Christmas and couldn't wait to try it out so I thought I'd pop it in a post too! :)

This post was supposed to go up ages ago but I had trouble uploading the pictures...this isn't even on my nails anymore!

This is the main polish in use in this look: the Models Own nail polish in Freak Out.
This has huge pieces of light blue, dark blue and purple glitter suspended in clear gel.
I have to say I did have trouble getting an even distribution of the pieces onto  my nails and I ended up with loads on one nail, barely any on another. I had to go over each one a couple of times to make sure I got enough coated on each nail.

The other polish I used as a base colour beforehand was the Miss Sporty Lasting Colour polish in...I'm not sure. One of my problems with Miss Sporty polishes is their labeling is awful. these have actual word names too but on the bottle all I can find are two numbers... 3160 and 510. From looking online this MAY be called "Atomic Blue"...but I have no idea! :)

I really love the way the different blues shine out through and because the pieces of glitter are so big it almost looks like there are jewels in my nails which looks so pretty...I'm definitely a fan of this look!
If only glitter polish wasn't so much of an arse-ache to remove :(

Anyway! Thanks so much for reading!

P.S
Took the dog for a run on the beach. You can't see his face but if you could you just know it would be the happiest dog-face you've ever seen. :)

NOTD: Beetle Wings

Hi!

Haven't done a nail of the day for ages so I thought I'd post this one as I'm in love with this colour at the moment..
I got a couple of polishes from Miss Sporty recently and I got this one which I believe is called Beetle Wings. It's from a duo-chrome nail polish collection that they released called Metal Flip I think (?) .
This one kind of reminds me of the Accessorize polish in Aztec (which you can see HERE) and I'm such a sucker for this kind of thing.

Look how pretty.
It's pretty much impossible to get a good picture of this on the actual nails so I kind of gave up.. :P
It shows up pretty much how you see it in the bottle.
The duo-chrome is beautiful, it shows purple, gold, green, bronze, blue and even a little pink in some lights...

I didn't get any of the other Metal Flip colours because they didn't catch my eye as much as this one did but I did get 2 other polishes just from their normal nail polish line which I'll end up showing you at some point.

Thanks for reading!

*REVIEW* Miss Sporty Studio Lash Waterproof Macara

Hi!

I noticed whilst writing this that this will be my 100th post! Because of this I just wanted to say massive thank you to everyone who has ever read any part of my blog - it means a lot to me! :)

Ok now onto the review!

This is the Studio Lash Waterproof Mascara from Miss Sporty in the shade 1 Black.

This retails for £2.99 and the Studio Lash mascaras from Miss Sporty come in all sorts of different types which I'm intrigued to about.
The price of this is very good and places it right under the title of "budget mascara" for me.

This mascara promises a lot:

"Dual action applicator for instant lash sculpting effect with perfect separation. Lashes are lifted up to 70% and are up to 60% longer. Zero clumps. Smudge and smear proof."

The wand on this is one of those flexible rubber wands with short bristles that get shorter towards the end of the wand. You do have to wipe off quite a bit of product when you take it out the tube.

Unfortunately for me this mascara formula is very wet and is too wet for the wand. When I pull it out even after wiping it I can still see clumps of product.
As someone who prefers drier mascara formulas, I didn't have high hopes for this from the beginning really.

Here's some photos!

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Uh...lashes lifted "70%"? I don't think so.

For me this just isn't too great in terms of what it does for my lashes. This was all I dared to put on as I knew from the moment I touched the wand to my lashes that this was going to clump and it did.
One light coat and its made my lashes stick together more than I would like, although I suppose it has separated out the clumps rather evenly, but that could just be a fluke.

I really believe the wet formula is to blame for this as it's made my lashes stick together but not added much in terms of volume. There is definitely some lengthening there but just not enough volume for me.
It also makes my lashes look pretty spidery which I'm not a fan of.

Is it waterproof?
Kind of.
I wore this to a theme  park where we were going on water rides and I didn't find that it smeared or smudged, but then I was being careful to wipe my eyes because I didn't want to walk around with panda eyes. It does last quite well but I rarely have a problem with mascaras smudging or smearing anyway.
I guess it's water resistant, but I wouldn't trust this to be completely waterproof.

So overall not that impressed. The formula is too wet and clumps up my lashes and doesn't do enough in terms of volume and separation for me. I'd say it has better durability than my other mascaras, but it's certainly nothing special.
Although, for such a cheap price, what can I expect?

Anyway, thanks so much for reading!

My Holiday Makeup Essentials!

Hi!

As I'm going away with friends for a few days soon I thought I'd do a post on the makeup I'm taking - in short, the makeup I consider to be my absolute essentials!

I may also do a post on things like face & hair products too :)

I'm going camping so I'm not going to be taking a tonne of makeup because I simply won't be using it, but I am going to be taking things that can cover all bases just in case I get there and suddenly realise I can't live without something I thought I could!

So lets start with the face products first!

1)
For a primer if I need one I'll be taking my 17 Photo Flawless face primer - nice and small packaging and smooths out the skin & makes makeup last longer. This also needs using up so I thought I'd take it along.

2)
E.L.F Tinted Moisturiser - I won't be taking any foundation of any sort so I prefer something light like a tinted moisturiser and so I'll be using this if I feel my skin tone just needs evening out.

3)
In case I need any powder I'll be taking my Miss Sporty So Clear Pressed Powder as it's inexpensive and it comes with a powder puff which will do for a few days instead of a powder brush which would take up lots of space!

4)
MAC Studio Finish Concealer - this is just an emergency product in case I get any spots or anything that really bothers me!

5)
I'm just taking my trusty Vaseline just for my lips as I don't tend to use many products on my lips.
This should keep them hydrated!

6)
I'm bringing my favourite Rimmel London Match Perfection concealer to cover up any dark circles! :)

Now onto the eyes!

7)
Instead of an eye primer I'm taking my NYX Eyeshadow Base in White just to give shadow something to cling to. I doubt I'll be wearing eyeshadow at all but I may if we go out for a meal.

8)
To save space I'm bringing this very useful Accessorize Baked Eyeshadow Duo in Thalia as a neutral colours go with everything and I've got a light shade there too for highlighting!

9)
Stila Waterproof Smudge Stick Eyeliner in Peacock - one of my favourite eyeliners ever! I've talked about this at length before and it's so great and long lasting!

10)
Soap & Glory Supercat Liquid Liner - I need to use this up so I thought I'd take this along as just a basic black eyeliner.

11)
The Borjois Paris Khol & Contour Eyeliner is my favourite eyeliner for the waterlines so I thought I'd bring this too because it's so useful for an everyday look.

12)
For my mascara I'm taking my Stila Fibre Optics mascara as I'm trying to use it up and I'm very fond of this mascara!

I'm trying to keep the brushes to a minimum so I've just got 3!

All of these are from Fraulein so I've got the foundation brush and two eye shadow brushes, one for a darker colour and one for a lighter colour.

So that's it! I don't usually wear a lot of makeup on holiday so I thought I'd just stick to the essentials and also a few things that aren't totally necessary like different eye liners, but its nice to have different choices!

What are your holiday makeup essentials?
Thanks for reading!

*REVIEW* - Miss Sporty So Clear Pressed Powder

Hello :)
I have another review for you today - The Miss Sporty So Clear Pressed Powder.
The shade I have is 001 Transparent but I haven't seen any other shades so I'm assuming that this is the only one.
This has quite a few claims on the back, which was one of the reasons I was attracted to it in the first place. It claims to have 4 "anti-blemish actions", it promises "up to 7 hours healthy looking skin" and "flawless and healthy looking finish" among other things.
The whole Miss Sporty line seems to be generally catering to teenagers and most of their powders/foundations ect have similar promises to look after young skin.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY:
The price of this seems to vary slightly but I've never seen it go for more than £3, making this a total bargain. I think I bought this for something like £2.89 or similar.
I've seen Miss Sporty in most Boots and Superdrug, and I think one or two supermarkets too so it's quite widely available.

PACKAGING:

This comes in quite a sturdy blue case which has a sponge and a mirror in it, although the mirror is permanently covered in powder which makes it pretty useless and I don't really like using sponges for powder, so I use a brush instead. It would be useful for emergencies though. The packaging does feel pretty sturdy and I wouldn't have any worries about taking it travelling. You get 9.4g in this but I seem to get through powders quite quickly so I've already hit pan on it...

TEXTURE AND COVERAGE:
Something I like about this is the fact that the texture feels quite light; I have a few other powders that definitely feel heavier than this. It doesn't give a huge amount of coverage but just enough to set my foundation and concealer well and add a little bit of coverage.
The colour is quite light, and this means that if you have quite a dark skin tone it might look a little frosty. The thing I like the most about this is how soft it makes my skin feel when I apply it. It really does a great job of absorbing excess oil and it makes my skin feel so clean yet soft at the same time.
It also does last pretty well, a good few hours but then again I don't have massive problems with oily skin anyway as my skin is quite dry.
I also like the fact that this makes my skin LOOK clear too, I'm not quite sure what about it does this, I think just the thin texture adds quite an airbrushed effect which seems to do a good job of blurring out imperfections.

OVERALL:
Generally I really like this powder and its the one I use most often. I like the way it gives my skin that soft feeling, and I have actually already rebought this because it is my second one, and I've already hit pan on it! I think for the price it's amazing too.

Would I buy it again?
Defintely, I probably will buy it again when this one runs out.

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoy my review!
