Bourjois Paris 1001 Lashes Mascara

Hi!

My review to day is of the Bourjois Paris mascara that I showed recently in a haul.
As far as I can tell from looking online, this retails for about £3 although I don't think I've seen it really in many stores.

This has a rubber wand which I really like as I prefer them to bristle brushes...I find that they separate my lashes more.

I did try to take before and after photos for this but I struggled with the lighting...the photos don't look very clear so I thought I'd leave them out!

Basically although this does volumise my lashes quite well it does clump easily. The formula is pretty wet and quite sticky which I don't like too much as I prefer drier formulas.
The wand definitely helps with stopping it clumping  ( I don't want to think about how much clumping there would be if the want wasn't so good) but I still find my lashes are quite hard and stiff after applying this.

Another thing I've noticed is that the wand feels a little...scratchy? It's hard to describe but when putting it on my lashes the wand is quite spiky and its not too hard to accidently poke yourself in the eye...and it hurts.
Maybe I'm just clumsy! :P

I think overall it's a decent mascara and I'll probably use it till it either dries up, or I get bored and find something else I prefer!

Thanks for reading!

*REVIEW* Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

Hi!

My review today is for the Maybelline Great Last Mascara - one that seems to have become the marmite of mascaras as people seem to either love this or hate it!

My shade is called Blackest Black and this retails for around £4.99.
This also comes in just plain black and also waterproof black and brown.

This mascara has one of those traditional bristle wands with quite big spacing between the bristles.

Before:

After:

The formula for this is a little too wet for me as a person who prefers drier mascaras as I feel they don't clump up my lashes as much.

I feel that this mascara does clump up quite a bit and I think its because there are such wide spaces in the bristles.
There is a decent amount of length that this mascara gives but I feel that instead of volume, this just tends to stick several lashes together and makes them pretty stiff and hard. I generally prefer a mascara that makes my lashes just feel a bit softer.

This lasts well on my lashes but I never have a problem with smearing with mascaras anyway.

So generally OK length....mediocre separation and clumps instead of volume.

I have to say that generally I don't agree with all of the hype surrounding this famous pink and green tube...I don't hate this mascara, I'm just not in love with it. I imagine I'll use it if my current mascara runs out and I need something quickly but I won't be rushing out to repurchase it when it runs out.

Oh. I forgot to mention a major downside to this mascara:
Maybelline tests on animals. I'm actually refusing to buy any products from Maybelline anymore so even if I did like this mascara I'd never go out and buy it again because I'd rather buy a product from a company that doesn't smother it's products over rabbits.
It's a personal thing but even if you don't have a problem with Maybelline I still wouldn't say this mascara is that great.

What do you make of this mascara?
Thanks for reading!

*REVIEW* Miss Sporty Studio Lash Waterproof Macara

Hi!

I noticed whilst writing this that this will be my 100th post! Because of this I just wanted to say massive thank you to everyone who has ever read any part of my blog - it means a lot to me! :)

Ok now onto the review!

This is the Studio Lash Waterproof Mascara from Miss Sporty in the shade 1 Black.

This retails for £2.99 and the Studio Lash mascaras from Miss Sporty come in all sorts of different types which I'm intrigued to about.
The price of this is very good and places it right under the title of "budget mascara" for me.

This mascara promises a lot:

"Dual action applicator for instant lash sculpting effect with perfect separation. Lashes are lifted up to 70% and are up to 60% longer. Zero clumps. Smudge and smear proof."

The wand on this is one of those flexible rubber wands with short bristles that get shorter towards the end of the wand. You do have to wipe off quite a bit of product when you take it out the tube.

Unfortunately for me this mascara formula is very wet and is too wet for the wand. When I pull it out even after wiping it I can still see clumps of product.
As someone who prefers drier mascara formulas, I didn't have high hopes for this from the beginning really.

Here's some photos!

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Uh...lashes lifted "70%"? I don't think so.

For me this just isn't too great in terms of what it does for my lashes. This was all I dared to put on as I knew from the moment I touched the wand to my lashes that this was going to clump and it did.
One light coat and its made my lashes stick together more than I would like, although I suppose it has separated out the clumps rather evenly, but that could just be a fluke.

I really believe the wet formula is to blame for this as it's made my lashes stick together but not added much in terms of volume. There is definitely some lengthening there but just not enough volume for me.
It also makes my lashes look pretty spidery which I'm not a fan of.

Is it waterproof?
Kind of.
I wore this to a theme  park where we were going on water rides and I didn't find that it smeared or smudged, but then I was being careful to wipe my eyes because I didn't want to walk around with panda eyes. It does last quite well but I rarely have a problem with mascaras smudging or smearing anyway.
I guess it's water resistant, but I wouldn't trust this to be completely waterproof.

So overall not that impressed. The formula is too wet and clumps up my lashes and doesn't do enough in terms of volume and separation for me. I'd say it has better durability than my other mascaras, but it's certainly nothing special.
Although, for such a cheap price, what can I expect?

Anyway, thanks so much for reading!

*REVIEW* Collection 2000 Super Size Fat Lash Mascara

Hi!

I have a review today on a product that I recently featured in a haul video recently:
the Collection 2000 Super Size Fat Lash Mascara.
That's a bit of a mouthful!

Oh. It's now just called "Collection"......I appear to have missed that memo.
Oh well, I prefer the name Collection 2000 ;)

Ok I won't lie to you...I was attracted to this because of the bright pink tube.
I'm not a pink person, but I do like the way this looks in my mascara drawer!

This retails for £2.99 and the colour I have is Black, although it also comes in Black/Brown and Ultra Black.

The wand is your traditional bristle wand...nothing fancy or different!
You do get quite a clump on the end of the wand so you do need to be aware that you need to wipe that off before using it.

Here are some "before" pictures of my lashes....I was wearing a fairly neutral eye look today so thought it would be a good opportunity to show this mascara so you could really see how it performs!

And here are the after pictures!

As you can hopefully see, this adds quite a bit of definition and length to the lashes, as well as some volume.

 "Super size your lashes!
Super volumising mascara for big, bold lashes!"

Hmm..
Considering this is marketed as a really volumising product, I'm not sure it lives up to it's name entirely.
This does give a decent amount of volume and is good for everyday purposes, however the volume isn't amazing and for a more dramatic look this just wouldn't make my lashes stand out too well.
However the lengthening is good and they don't clump up too badly either.

The formula seems to be pretty wet and I've noticed when applying this that no matter how careful I am, I always get some transfed to the crease of my eye when I'm putting on this mascara.
This is a bit of a pain generally although not a major problem.
Once it's on I didn't notice flaking or smearing but I generally don't have a problem with that in any mascara!

So overall?
I like the length this gives, and although it does clump on the second coat it doesn't clump on the first coat.
The volume it gives is decent and this mascara does work well on an everyday basis but for more dramatic looks this just wouldn't give enough "oomph" to the lashes.

Would I buy again?
Probably not as I have found other mascaras that I really like (Stila Fibre Optics) but I'll happily use up the rest of the tube!

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed my review.

*REVIEW* E.L.F Volumizing Mascara

*This is a scheduled post as over the next few weeks I will be busy with exams*

Hi! :)
I had a big E.L.F haul the other week (which you can see HERE if you want) and in that E.L.F order I wanted to try an E.L.F mascara so I chose the Volumizing Mascara from the essential line :)

This was £2.50 from www.eyeslipsface.co.uk and for that price I decided it was definitely was worth trying out!

On the packaging it says:
"Volumize lashes with this vitamin B enriched mascara that boots and curls for a dramatic look. Lashes appear fuller and thicker for a long-lasting effect."

Packaging:
The packaging of this is very simple and quite cheap feeling, but this is so cheap you can't complain really. It functions as packaging so it's ok!

Wand:
The wand on this mascara is one of those traditional bristle hair wands. I find that these generally volumize better than mascaras with rubber wants but don't always necessarily separate lashes quite as well.

Formula:
The formula is quite dry which I really like. I don't like mascaras that have a really wet formula as they tend to clump together so much more.
The texture isn't overly thick either so this means it doesn't clump too much.
It seems to work quite well for the want but you still do have to wipe off a little bit of the excess mascara from the wand before using it.

Effect:
As you can see from the picture about there is some definite volume and length added.
However... I find it weird that this mascara is called a "volumizing" mascara.
There IS volume...but it is much more of an everyday mascara for me.
I would say there is more length added than volume and for dramatic looks this just doesn't give enough to make the lashes stand out.
However it gives enough definition and length to be a good everyday mascara.

Generally I do like this mascara...I just don't think it necessarily lives up to the name of "volumizing" mascara. It DOES add volume...but not massively.
I've been using this every day now for most of the week and I have enjoyed it. I think I will definitely use up the rest of the tube and maybe buy it again when I run out.
This removes quite easily I find and I haven't noticed any flaking or smearing throughout the day but I don't generally have a problem with this anyway usually.

Thank you for reading - I hope you enjoyed my review!
What do you think of E.L.F mascaras?

*EDIT*

After using this mascara I felt the need to add this on as a little side note as I've had a chance to review the mascara over a long period of time...
I've noticed that considering the mascara had a pretty dry formula to begin with, it has now almost dried up completely and it's not easy to use. It no longer gives much volume at all so I don't use it anymore.
It was very cheap but I am slightly disappointed at the very fast rate at which this dried up...although I won't buy it again it wasn't an awful mascara overall!:)
